Fungal Colonisations
Four Principle strategies employed by trees decay fungi to colonise woody tissues and the conditions required
Heart Rot Fungi- Many of the fungi of a heart wood rot will penetrate the stem or roots via injury or high stressed trees. Fungi can adapt to inhospitable conditions from a high or low level of C02. Heartwood fungi overtime have the ability to degrade substance which would deter hyphae such as tannings, polyphenols and resins.
